What Is Inflammation and How to Treat It

Redness, breakouts, and inflammation can make us self-conscious. While redness and inflammation are rather unsightly, it is just one way that our body protects us from further injury and damage. Inflammation is a blanket term that is used to describe a wide variety of issues from acne to allergies and foreign bodies that our body is trying to fight. Inflammation is the body’s way of protecting you from these, while alerting you that something is wrong. Luckily, most of the issues are temporary and most can be resolved with the right skincare products or lifestyle alteration. At Moraz our line of creams and serums is perfect for helping you treat and rejuvenate your skin with nutrients that reduce inflammation and restore your skin’s natural glow.

What Are the Different Types of Inflammation?

Inflammation of the skin can happen in a variety of ways. The most common and least severe are those caused by bacteria and dead cells which can produce acne on the skin. Inflammation can take the form of redness, swelling, and overheating. Additionally, inflammation can be caused by viral infections, autoimmune diseases, allergies, and a variety of other causes. Fortunately, inflammation generally only lasts a few days and passes rather quickly with the right treatment. Ultimately, you need to give your skin exactly what it needs.

In short: inflammation can be caused by bacteria and foreign bodies in our skin, as a result of foods that we consume, or as a result of an influx in hormones that cause acne, swelling, or redness.

What Are the Symptoms?

Inflammation can have quite a few symptoms depending on exactly what the cause is. Typically, you can expect to see redness, swelling, and overheating of the skin. Inflammation can also cause bumps, acne breakouts, and itchiness. This has to do with our body’s response to infections. When exposed to such infections, our body’s inflammatory pathways result in redness, pigmentation, scar formation and dysregulation of collagen and elastin fibers. This is bad news for our efforts to maintain young, flawless skin.

How to Reduce Inflammation

So how do we reduce inflammation when it appears? Well, there are a few ways to reduce inflammation, topically, through diet, or by medication which should only be taken after consulting with your doctor first. If you would like to treat inflammation topically, you can treat your skin with products that are rich in retinoids (vitamin A), Achillea, or Jojoba Oil which has many anti-inflammatory effects and can be found in our nourishing sanguine serum.

You can also supplement your diet with plenty of nutrient-rich foods and vitamins that have anti-inflammatory properties such as Vitamins A, C, E, and Vitamin K.
